Endodontics: Predictable Endodontic Success: The Hybrid Approach — Part I

FIGURE 14--The apical control zone created by the Protaper files and augmented by the ProSystem GT files is demonstrated. The enhanced deep shape effect of the Hybrid Approach is readily apparent. The cutting efficiency of the Protaper files exceeds that of the ProSystem GT files, however the resultant shaping produced by the ProSystem GT files with their array of variable tapers results in the creation of a more substantial apical control zone enabling greater density in the apical region and thus preventing inadvertent overfills and overextensions.

The crown-down approach for root canal space preparation has been optimized through the past decade by advances in rotary nickel-titanium (NiTi) instrumentation.1 The improved canal architecture produced by these instruments in conjunction with enhanced thermosoftened obturation techniques has demonstrably increased the predictability of endodontic success. However; regardless of the iterations in file design, the myriad … Read more

Cosmetic Dentistry: The Essentials for Placing Indirect Composite Inlays and Onlays

FIGURE 13

The use of laboratory fabricated resin materials for indirect restorations is not new and, in fact, the first commercially used indirect composite, Isosit, was first introduced in 1981. Cosmetic Dentistry: Provisional Crowns – A Simple Technique

FIGURE 11--Temporary cement trick for no high spots and minimal cleanup.

Hiding Denture Clasps: A Cosmetic Dilemma

FIGURE 11--Buccal view of the smile ten years after the partial denture was placed.

Partial dentures, at times, are a forgotten alternative in replacing missing teeth. Their one major aesthetic failing is the need to use clasps for direct retention.
