One Stop Shop Offers Treatment, Education

After being at its current facility for almost 20 years, intense practice growth and expansion caused a need to redevelop and enhance the 9th floor location. Drs. Barzilay, Habsha, Zarb, Bhide and Dao felt that a larger, more comfortable, state-of-the-art office would better serve the needs of their patients and referring doctors.

The total office would occupy approximately 8,000 square feet at their midtown Toronto location. The newly developed clinic facility houses nine dental chairs (including a surgical suite) with a southern view of the Toronto city skyline. The operatories are set up for paperless practice execution with two computers per operatory as well as built in massage features and TV options for patient comfort. Dual entrances allow for easy flow of staff and materials. Sterilization is open for viewing by all and the overall colours are relaxing and comfortable with extra punch given by the artwork. Through out the office, a collection of more than 200 dental figurines are on display.

The office is a “one-stop shop facility” that incorporates all prosthodontic and implant procedures as well as the needed laboratory backup. The lab was enlarged to deal with in-house treatments as well as limited “off-site” accounts. Further expansion is planned as newer technologies are introduced.

Based on the comments made by the practice’s referral base, a state of the art educational facility was developed. PACE (Prosthodontic Associates Centre for Excellence) takes up almost 1,500 square feet and can accommodate up to 50 course attendees with educational programs that are unique to the dental industry. Three of the dental operatories are fitted with Internet cameras that enhance the learning experience. Sessions can be viewed online or be taken away for later viewing. “Off-site participants” can also participate by logging on to the PROSTHODONTIC ASSOCIATES web site (www.buildyoursmile.com). Creation of this education centre allows for dental professionals to take courses that best suit their current needs and allows for mentoring to take place in a controlled environment. Programs have also been made available to undergraduate and graduate students.

PROSTHODONTIC ASSOCIATES are committed to maintaining and servicing their referral base in the best ways possible. The patient experience is one of calm and comfortable treatment. The most common comments include “this place just doesn’t look like a regular dental office.”
