After the success of Menopause Unveiled: The Silent Epidemic & Oral Health, held in September in Etobicoke to raise awareness about menopause and its oral-health implications, organizers are bringing the event to Ottawa on April 21.
The upcoming session will take on a TED Talk-style format, allowing more speakers to share insights and giving attendees practical information they can bring back to their practices.
“We are shifting our presentation slightly to make it more like a TED Talk so we can accommodate more speakers and help attendees walk away with more information, feeling equipped to tackle patients’ and team questions,” said Angie Drinic, founder of Menopause Unveiled.
Drinic, who also founded Dent-Cents, a dental leadership training platform, has previously written about her personal experience with menopause in Oral Health, in an article titled How menopause nearly cost me my life — and why dentistry needs to pay attention.
Increasingly, more people — particularly women — are breaking long-standing taboos and speaking openly about menopause and its effects on both oral and overall health.

The growing attention around the topic is also reflected in the expanding menopause market. Globally, products and services aimed at managing menopause symptoms were valued at US$17.79 billion in 2024 and are projected to reach US$24.35 billion by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate of 5.42 per cent.
Reflecting on feedback from the Etobicoke event, Drinic said the response from attendees was overwhelmingly positive.
“I have been to many seminars and dental events, and to this day women are stopping to tell me what a great time they had, how informative it was and most of all that they felt like ‘I am not the only one going through this, and there is help for me,’” she said. “The feedback is what prompted us to move forward with the next event.”
