123Dentist, one of Canada’s largest and fastest-growing dental support organizations, has appointed Jeff Leger as chief executive officer, the company said Wednesday.

Leger will assume the role effective July 2. He will report to founder and current CEO Dr. Amin Shivji, who is transitioning to the position of executive chair. In this new role, Shivji will actively focus on driving the company’s clinical strategy and vision.

“I’m honoured to join a company with such a strong reputation for clinical integrity, entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to patient care,” Leger said in the announcement.

Pharmacist by profession

A pharmacist by profession, Leger brings nearly two decades of experience with Shoppers Drug Mart, including seven years as president of the national network of more than 1,300 pharmacist-owned locations and over 50,000 employees.

His track record includes leading customer experience transformation, scaling a high-performing franchise model, and integrating new healthcare services such as pharmacist-led clinics and national rehabilitation programs.

123Dentist said the appointment follows a comprehensive search process. Shivji and the board prioritized finding a visionary, values-driven leader with the experience to guide the organization through its next phase of national expansion and operational excellence.

‘Appointment marks an inflection point’

“Jeff’s appointment marks an inflection point for 123Dentist,” said Shivji. “He is a proven leader with unmatched experience scaling complex healthcare networks while remaining grounded in values and community. I look forward to partnering with him in my new role as executive chair as we continue to grow and deliver exceptional care to patients across Canada.”

Founded in 2017, 123Dentist has expanded from 14 clinics in British Columbia to more than 400 partner clinics across the country. It supports over 7,000 team members and handles more than two million patient visits annually.

The company provides centralized services—including marketing, human resources, technology, finance and operations—while preserving clinical autonomy at the clinic level.
